✵ Merry Up ✵

I love this time of year, and love seeing all of everyone else’s lights and trees and yes, even inflatable decorations going up but I can’t seem to get into the mood to actually do any at our house for some reason.

Some of it may have to do with the fact that I scheduled a couple of markets on top of each other and am busy getting ready for them. To be fair, quite a few of the items in the works ARE decorations.

Some of it might have to do with the temperature. But I can’t use that for long as it’s getting back to feeling quite wintry today.

Whatever it is, I’m thankful we’ve been gifted a couple of items that are helping to give our house just a little bit more merry until we can get ourselves a little more into the holiday spirit!

Get Outside!

IMG-4509We had the best time yesterday at Lu’s Labs Labapalooza! It was a little chilly, well mostly windy, but still a beautiful fall day. [Finally!] Here’s hoping for a few more like it before we tumble into winter temps and darker days. [Full disclosure: I’m not a huge fan of sundown before 5PM.]

One more outdoor market for this year coming up on Thursday! I’m excited to be back in Crystal City, it’s been a while and there weren’t nearly as many food trucks in the mix but there was – and still is – live music to start easing you into the FriYaY mood a little early. Come check out my new works at the final Crystal City Crafts Market for the season.

Penny Thoughts

IMG-1941At least once a week, I find pennies when running, walking or just out and about. Sometimes one, sometimes a handful. I have this thing about them being heads up.

True or not, some part of me believes heads is good luck, tails not as much. So the latter get tossed up to see if they’ll land the opposite way and wait for someone else that might need a little luck to come by and find them.

It’s not a great story but that’s where the name LePennyJ came from.

I’ve long tried to figure out how to explain how I chose it when I started working with clay.  And, it’s always been the same reason but I’ve had a difficult time putting it into words outside of my head. Maybe I’ve done it this time.

The J was always easy. It’s me, Jessica. And, Le? Nothing to tell there really, it just seemed to fit. I feel very lucky for the opportunity to: play in the mud (basically), to make useful (and not so useful too) things by hand, to share the good works with others, to learn from the frequent accidents (both happy and the not-so-very also). So, that’s the rest of the story.
